OVERVIEW
This custom 1941 Ford Business Coupe build was completed 15 years ago and refurbished within the last four years. It is powered by a Chevrolet 283cid V8 mated to a three-speed manual transmission and a nine-inch rear end. Under the current owner’s six-year ownership, it received upgrades including an auxiliary electric fan, electric wipers and ignition, Vintage Air air conditioning, a backup camera, and cruise control. Finished in black over a black vinyl interior, this coupe is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer with a transmission seal kit, and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The black all-steel exterior was reportedly originally restored in 2008 and later refinished in 2019. Features include chrome bumpers, non-functioning spotlights, a two-piece windshield, rear fender skirts, and a dual exhaust system. The selling dealer notes some paint bubbles near the air vent door on top of the cowl.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Red-painted steel 15-inch wheels with chrome hubcaps are wrapped in whitewall radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is fitted with a black vinyl fold-up bench seat, matched to the door panels and rubber flooring. Amenities include Vintage Air climate control, electric windshield wipers, floor mats, lap belts, a backup camera display, cruise control, a non-functioning AM radio, and a spare tire in the vinyl-lined trunk.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation in the 1946 Ford dashboard includes a digital speedometer, column-mounted 7,000-rpm tachometer, clock, and auxiliary gauges that show the voltage, oil pressure, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The odometer reportedly shows 100 miles; the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 1965 Chevrolet 283cid V8 is fed by a two-barrel carburetor and features an electric fuel pump, electronic ignition, a newer 12-volt battery, an auxiliary electric fan, and a re-cored 1951 radiator. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted three-speed manual transmission and a nine-inch rear end, which were sourced from 1950 and 1957 Ford models, respectively. The selling dealer notes that there are some small transmission leaks; a transmission seal kit will be included with the sale.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Stopping power comes from manual four-wheel drum brakes. The suspension consists of a solid-axle front end and leaf springs in the rear.
