Vehicle Story

This 2005 Mini Cooper S is a one-owner, highly-modified example purchased at Desert MINI in Las Vegas, Nevada, and now resides in California. Early M7 performance modifications to the supercharged 1.6-liter inline-4 consisted of a cold air intake, MSD coil pack, John Cooper Works injectors, a Shark injector, a direct flow intercooler, Borla cat-back exhaust, and more. A recent 160k-service saw the car receive a tune-up, a new clutch, and supercharger oil change. Exterior and suspension upgrades include blackout grilles, DFIC hood scoop, carbon fiber front air diverter, John Cooper Works struts and rear shocks, H&R springs and sway bars, and chassis braces. The 6-speed manual MINI is finished in two-tone black and white over beige and grey leather and is factory-equipped with navigation, Harmon Kardon audio, heated seats, tilt/slide sunroof, and fog lights. This 165k-mile MINI Cooper S is now offered with the stock engine parts, some spare M7 parts, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear California title in the seller's name.

The body is finished in black with a white roof, and exterior upgrades include M7 blackout grilles, a direct flow hood scoop to work with the intercooler, a carbon fiber front air diverter, and front and rear fog lamps. The seller reports that the paint is in good condition, all doors and hatches close properly, and the car has never been driven in snow or on salted roads. A rear scoop will come with the car.

The factory 17" MINI wheels are currently mounted via Ireland Engineering wheel studs. Braking upgrades include cadmium-treated, slotted front rotors and semi-metallic brake pads.

The interior is finished in a two-tone tan and dark grey and shows little sign of age-related wear per the seller. The front seats are heated and are adjustable via manual controls, and a factory tilt/slide sunroof is fitted. Amenities consist of onboard navigation, air conditioning, and a Harmon Kardon sound system.

Classic white-faced gauges are fronted by the stock steering wheel. The odometer shows approximately 165.5k original miles.

The 1.6-liter inline-4 produced 168hp and 162-lb-ft of torque when new, and it is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Numerous performance upgrades using M7 parts have been made over the life of the car, including a cold air intake, an air-oil separator, a 14% crank, and 2% supercharger pulleys, an MSD coil pack, John Cooper Works injectors, Shark injectors for 91 octane gas and stage 1 modifications (with OBDII tuner), and a "quiet" Borla cat-back exhaust. The CARFAX report shows regular maintenance and a timing belt and valve cover replacement in 2013. The seller adds that at 160,580 miles, the supercharger oil was changed, a tune-up was performed, and the clutch was replaced. Compression was noted to be good across all four cylinders at that time.

John Cooper Works struts, rear shocks, and H&R springs provide a 1" drop. Other suspension and chassis upgrades include H&R sway bars, adjustable rear suspension control arms, front strut bar, front caster, and camber plates, a front X-brace, a rear box brace, and a center chassis brace.

Included with sale are comprehensive maintenance records, factory literature, parts manuals, the stock engine parts, and various uninstalled M7 parts

@JJesseJJ – without being a "picky" bugger,I see you call this engine an INLINE 4....it is not that,it is an EAST-WEST 4 . In line means just that in line with the drive direction to the rear axle drive, these are driven east-west to the front wheels. ...

Correct. Inline vs Transverse. I should have read the copy more closely and made the corrections. My E30 (pic attached) has an inline engine, the MINI (the one in in this auction) has a transverse.

@19_GTCS – Do you get any drone on the highway with the Borla exhaust? Would love to hear a startup if you are able to post a video ...

Way back when these cars were just out, there were two options available from Borla. There was the "sporty" (aka noisey) throaty version and a quiet version. I opted for the quiet one, since the HP numbers were the same. This one was installed by D&D Muffler in Lancaster, CA. I normally drive with the radio off, and there is no drone. I don't see on my side of the site where I can put up anything with a video extension...

A couple of points to make about any confusion that might be caused by the CarFax. I AM the only owner. It looks like every move, with re-registration and re-title in the new state gets logged as a new owner. At 64748 miles, Mini of Universal City (CA) replaced the WINDSHIELD, not the engine. The car is a s/n matching car. The latest oil change on the supercharger was performed at 160,580 by RhineWest in San Antoni, TX. At that time there was also a lot of other maintenance performed -- tune up, clutch, etc. As for the "recall" for the power steering pump, I was one of the unfortunate ones that had it fail BEFORE it was an acknowledged recall item by Mini. Vic's Bimmer in Lancaster, CA did the repair. In the write-up above, it may be a little unclear, but m7 made a matching exit scoop for their hood scoop. That would give a true flow through of outside air across the intercooler. I just couldn't bring myself to let anyone cut the hood for the new hole. I have the template, and that scoop still in the bubble pack. I think that is it. Please feel free to post questions, I'll get to them as soon as I can.
