This 1991 Mercedes Benz 300SL is a fourth-generation SL roadster that has covered 127,000 miles since new and comes finished in red over a tan leather interior with a black fabric top and a separate body-color hardtop. Powered by a 3.0-liter I6 connected to a 4-speed automatic transmission, it comes equipped with power front seats, automatic climate control, and an aftermarket radio head unit. Located in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, this R129-series SL droptop was purchased from long-term family ownership and is available now with a body-color hardtop, a fitted car cover, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear title.
The car is dressed in red and has a black fully automatic power soft top with 3 plastic windows; it also comes with a body-color aluminum hardtop with three glass windows and a tan headliner that matches the interior. Other exterior features include headlight wipers, foglights, front fender vents, and 16-inch chrome wheels surrounded by Americus Sport HP tires.
Two videos show the folding top and tonneau cover in action as well as a check of the exterior lighting.
The cabin is furnished with tan carpeting, seats, and door panels. Woodgrain trim can be found on the door panels and center stack. Equipment includes power window and seat controls, cruise control, a Bluetooth-compatible Alpine head unit, automatic climate control, and a wind deflector. The black dashboard houses a set of instruments that includes a 160-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, and a clock along with gauges for the fuel level, fuel economy, coolant temperature, and oil pressure.
Mercedes-Benz unveiled an all-new fourth-generation SL roadster at the 1989 Geneva Motor Show that featured safety belts integrated into the seats, a fully automatic soft top, and a rollbar that would employ automatically in the event of an emergency. The seller notes that the car is missing one of the roll-top covers in the center console and the battery cover that goes in the trunk. The AC reportedly blows cold, but only has one speed.
Power comes from a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine that was factory rated for 228 horsepower and 201 lb-ft of torque. That sends its output through a 4-speed automatic transmission and the rear wheels. According to the CARFAX report, the distributor cap, fuel filter and pump, battery, serpentine belt, and other parts were replaced in August of 2014. In August of 2020, the AC compressor was replaced and the AC system was serviced and recharged.
An oil change was performed recently. Sale includes a fitted car cover.
