This 1973 Volkswagen Beetle is equipped with a manual transmission and a rear-mounted air-cooled four-cylinder engine that has been resealed and overhauled with a new carburetor and pistons. Under previous ownership, new tires and wheels were installed. The exterior is finished in Panther Blue, which extends to the dashboard and door panels, and the refurbished interior features two-tone black and gray seating. This classic Beetle is available now with a clear title in the seller's name.
Originally developed by Ferdinand Porsche, the Beetle was produced from 1938 until 2003 and reached a worldwide production total of more than 20 million. The exterior of this particular Beetle is finished in Panther Blue and accented with chrome trim and Volkswagen lettering on the rear deck. It features front and rear chrome bumpers with a pair of exhaust tips in the back. All the lights and windshield wipers function, but the seller does not know if the wiper fluid sprays. The seller also states that the car was likely repainted by the previous owner and there is a crack near the left side of the rear window.
The car rides on 15-inch steel wheels with VW wheel covers and a set of Euro Metric Radial tires. The seller states that the wheels and tires were installed by the previous owner. New brakes shoes were installed, but the seller notes that the car needs new brakes and that the drum seals are leaking.
The refurbished interior features two-tone black and gray vinyl front bucket seats and a dashboard and door panels finished in Panther Blue and black. A Sony stereo and speakers were installed, but they reportedly do not function.
Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer and a fuel gauge. The five-digit odometer reads 43,826 miles, but the seller states it has rolled over to 143,826 miles.
The rear-mounted air-cooled four-cylinder engine was overhauled with four new pistons and new seals. A new carburetor, spark plugs, and exhaust was installed. In addition, the motor oil was changed to aircraft oil and a tune-up was performed. The engine is paired with a floor-shifted manual transmission.
