Vehicle Story

This 1970 Ford Mustang convertible underwent a rotisserie restoration that involved it being repainted in a different color, the installation of a new power-operated convertible top, and the interior being overhauled. It comes equipped with power front disc brakes, power steering, and a Philco AM radio. Power is supplied by a 302ci V8 and delivered to the road through a Ford C4 3-speed automatic transmission and the rear 14-inch Magnum 500 wheels. Refinished in Grabber Blue with a white top over a white vinyl interior, this first-generation Mustang is available now from a dealer and comes with an owner's manual and a clear Pennsylvania title.

The 1970 model year brought minor cosmetic changes to the Mustang, including revised front lighting and bodywork as well as a flat rear panel. This particular Mustang is one of 7,673 convertibles produced for 1970 and was put through a rotisserie restoration process. As part of that, the car's paint was changed from its factory-issued color to Grabber Blue with a clear coat and a new power-folding white convertible top with a glass rear window was installed. Exterior features include twist-style hood pins, front and rear side markers, a hood scoop, and reverse lights mounted in the lower rear fascia. Brightwork is located on the front and rear bumpers, grille bars and frame, wiper arms, windshield surround, door handles, trunk lid lettering, and other components.

The car rolls on a set of 14-inch Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in tires with black sidewall lettering.

As part of the restoration process, the interior was refurbished. It features black carpeting, white vinyl seating consisting of front buckets and a two-person rear bench, matching door panels, and a black dual-cowl dashboard. Wood-tone trim surrounds the main gauges and clock and is also located on the door panels. Equipment includes power steering, a Philco AM radio, lap belts, manual windows, and a floor-mounted automatic shifter. A patterned vinyl liner protects the floor of the trunk, which contains a spare tire with a matching cover and a jack.

Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the alternator, fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The odometer reportedly shows 97K miles.

Under the hood is a 302ci V8 paired with a two-barrel carburetor and a Ford C4 3-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.

Additional pictures of the underbody are available in the photo gallery to the right.

An owner's manual is included with the sale of the car. The Pennsylvania-based selling dealer charges a $150 documentation fee in addition to the final auction price.
