Vehicle Story

This 1981 Jeep CJ-7 four-wheel-drive SUV is a frame-off restoration equipped with a carbon fiber hood and tailgate, new axles, auxiliary front lighting, powder-coated differentials, Fuel wheels, BFGoodrich tires, power disc brakes, and Amp Research power side steps. Its custom cabin features quilted Sparco seats, Vintage Air A/C, Dakota Digital gauges, and power steering. The hood covers a fuel-injected 355ci Chevrolet V8 that sends its power to the road through a rebuilt 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission and a 2-speed transfer case. Refinished in silver with a gray soft top over a black leather interior, this modified classic Jeep is available now and comes with a gray soft top with plastic windows, build receipts, and a clear Florida title in the seller's name.

The exterior has been refinished in silver and fitted with a carbon fiber hood with chrome latches, chrome Smittybilt tube bumpers, body-color fender flares, half doors, Amp Research power side steps, a carbon fiber fold-down tailgate, and dual exhaust finishers. According to the seller, all of the body seams and all of the holes in the frame have been welded. Lighting is provided by aftermarket LED headlights, a DJI 4X4 light bar above the front bumper, and square Rugged Ridge spotlights at the base of the fold-down windshield. Wire cages protect the taillights. A gray soft top with plastic windows covers the passenger compartment.

A set of 8-spoke 12"x20" chrome Fuel wheels and BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 tires connect the vehicle to the road.

Cabin furnishings include quilted black leather Sparco front seats with contrast stitching, a matching rear seat, a body-color dashboard, black door panels, gray carpeting, and custom light gray floor mats. It comes equipped with black rollbars, SSBC power steering, Vintage Air A/C, Dakota Digital gauges, RetroBelt harnesses, sport pedals, a 2-tone burlwood steering wheel, a center console with a Ford automatic shifter and two cupholders, a silver transfer case shift knob, and a passenger-side grab handle.

The center of the dashboard houses a gauge pod with a 160-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, and readouts for the voltage and fuel level. Auxilary instruments show the coolant temperature and oil pressure. The seller reports the odometer shows 75 miles. True mileage is unknown.

Under the hood is a 355ci Chevrolet V8 equipped with FiTech fuel injection, MSD ignition, and a K&N open-element air cleaner. Braking hardware includes a power booster and a Wilwood master cylinder. The engine delivers its power to the road through a rebuilt 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission and a 2-speed transfer case.

Additional hardware includes new axles with powder-coated differentials and chrome covers, 4-wheel disc brakes, and an in-tank fuel pump. More photos of the undercarriage are available in the picture gallery to the right.

A gray soft top with plastic windows and all build receipts are included with the purchase of the vehicle. The Carfax report shows the vehicle was involved in an accident in July of 1989 that did damage to the front end. Video is available for viewing below.
