This 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible built on May 28, 1956, in Flint, Michigan, received a documented frame-off restoration completed by Redhorse Restoration in Braham, Minnesota. It has a 265ci V8 with the Power Pack option backed by a Powerglide automatic transmission. Features include power steering and brakes, electric windshield wipers, whitewall tires, Autronic Eye automatic high beams, fender skirts, a continental kit, and a Wonderbar AM radio. This two-tone Twilight Turquoise and India Ivory Bel Air with a matching two-tone vinyl interior is available now and comes with a reproduction window sticker, a suitcase, other accessories, and a conditional Georgia title in the seller's name.
The body has been refinished in the original paint color combination of two-tone Twilight Turquoise and India Ivory as designated by the 710 code on the trim tag. Chrome and stainless trim, emblems, and door handles are in place. The rocker panels and front fenders have been fitted with stainless trim and stone guards. The door handles feature anti-scratch guards. A chrome front bumper with bumper guards is installed below the chrome grille with integrated turn signals and dual headlamps. Chrome fender ornaments are present and the chrome jet-style hood ornament with Chevrolet logo and V-shaped trim can be seen at the leading edge of the hood. At the rear, the chrome bumper has bumper guards and a continental kit with a two-tone spare tire cover. Bel Air and Chevrolet logos as well as dual exhaust tips can be seen. The fuel filler is mounted inside the left taillamp. A chrome side mirror is mounted on the driver’s door. A power white convertible top has been installed.
The refinished Twilight Turquoise steel wheels wear full hubcaps and are wrapped in Firestone bias-ply whitewall tires. Matching fender skirts cover part of the rear wheels.
The interior has been reupholstered with white vinyl and turquoise cloth inserts over a full-width front bench seat and matching rear seat. The door panels and rear quarter panel trim have been covered in turquoise and white vinyl with stainless trim. Chrome manual window, vent window, and exit handles can be seen. Turquoise carpet with matching turquoise Chevrolet-branded rubber floor mats cover the cabin floor and kick panels. The steel dashboard has been refinished in matching Twilight Turquoise and has chrome and stainless trim in place. An Autronic Eye and a lighted compass are mounted to the top of the dashboard. The controls for the headlights, windshield wipers, ignition, and climate system are mounted in the factory locations. The locking glove box door is located below the Wonderbar AM radio. A tissue dispenser box and speaker grille with a Bel Air emblem and an integrated clock have been installed. The automatic-shift steering column is topped with a turquoise steering wheel with a chrome horn ring. At the top of the windshield, turquoise sun visors have been installed and a reproduction vehicle operation instruction guide can be seen on the driver’s visor. In the trunk, India Ivory paint covers the trunk floor, sidewalls, and underside of the trunk lid. A vinyl mat covers the trunk floor and bumper jack hardware is in the correct location. The jacking instructions and stowage decals are mounted to the right rear trunk wall. A trunk light has been added.
The 110-mph speedometer has a 5-digit odometer that shows 196 miles, but true mileage is unknown. A coolant temperature and fuel level gauge are mounted in the instrument cluster above the speedometer and gear selection indicator.
The red engine is a 265ci V8 with the Power Pack option which came from the factory with 205 horsepower. Output is sent to the road through a Powerglide automatic transmission. Chevrolet-script valve covers, a 4-barrel carburetor, a matte black closed-element air cleaner, and power steering hardware complete the engine. The electric windshield wiper motor, power brake master cylinder and booster, and a radiator with GM-branded hoses can also be seen.
The entire undercarriage, including the frame, underbody, and suspension, has been restored. The independent front suspension as well as the rear axle with a 3:55 positraction differential, frame, and body floors are finished in matte black. The natural-finish dual exhaust system runs the full length of the car and comes equipped with oval chrome exhaust tips.
Several turquoise accessories can be found in the trunk and are included with the sale.
