1964 Chevrolet Bel Air

This 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air four-door station wagon received upgrades including 16” American Racing wheels, side-exit exhaust outlets, an Alpine stereo, a Hurst shifter, and Edelbrock performance upgrades. Power comes from a small-block 350ci V8 coupled with a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, and traction comes from 3.55 rear gearing and newer Hankook Optimo tires. Finished in Black Metallic over a red cloth interior, this fifth-generation Bel Air is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear Minnesota title.

Offered as a full-size model in the Chevrolet hierarchy, the Bel Air was produced beginning in 1950 and rode on the General Motors A-body platform at the time. The fifth generation later debuted about a decade later in 1961 on the B-body platform with an all-new body, although the wheelbase remained the same from the prior iteration. A facelift was carried out in 1963 with small trim changes again in 1964. This Bel Air station wagon from that year was repainted Black Metallic as part of restoration and displays good-condition finishes throughout the exterior, although there are some small blemishes as shown in the photo carousel per the selling dealer. The body features chrome brightwork, quad headlights, a driver sideview mirror, and side-exit exhaust pipes.

Polished aluminum 16” American Racing five-spoke wheels are wrapped in Hankook Optimo tires with good tread remaining. Stopping power comes from power-assisted disc brakes up front and drums in the rear, and steering is power-assisted.

The interior is fitted with reupholstered red cloth bench seats, matched to the door panels, padded dash, headliner, and carpeting. Amenities include a Hurst shift lever, a power-operated rear window, and an under-dash Alpine stereo connected to speakers in the cargo area. The selling dealer notes that the front bench shows some tears on the driver side.

Instrumentation is delivered via a 120-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, and an aftermarket coolant temperature gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 28k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The small-block 350ci V8 is performance-upgraded with an Edelbrock carburetor and intake, an HEI ignition system, and more. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a TH350 floor-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission with 3.55 gearing.
