Vehicle Story

This 1976 Triumph TR6 convertible is a body-off restoration powered by a rebuilt 2.5-liter I6 engine that has been equipped with several upgrades, including Patton Machine fuel injection and a gear reduction starter. Power is sent to the road through a RATCO (Roadtronics Automotive Technology) throttle linkage, an overhauled HVDA Toyota Celica 5-speed manual transmission, and the rear wheels. The cabin features Dynamat sound damping material, a woodgrain steering wheel and dashboard, and the two-tone bucket seats from a Mazda MX-5 Miata. Refinished in cream with a black soft top over a crimson vinyl and black cloth interior, this final-year TR6 is available now and comes with a British heritage certificate and a clear title.

According to the seller, the original color of this TR6 was Carmine. As part of the restoration process under previous ownership, the exterior was repainted a cream color and accented with maroon pinstripes and TR6 Union Jack insignias. Equipment includes chrome bumpers, amber front turn signals and side marker lights, dual side mirrors, new door handles, a fuel filler cap behind the passenger compartment, and a trunk-mounted luggage rack. The black soft top has a small tear in it and fits under a crimson top boot.

Redline tires are mounted on sandblasted and repainted 15-inch wheels with red TR6-branded center caps.

During the restoration, the two-seat cabin was lined with Dynamat sound damping material and equipped with the crimson vinyl and black cloth seats from a Mazda Miata, which coordinate with the black upper and lower sections of the dashboard and the door panels. Woodgrain covers the face of the dashboard and the rim of the 3-spoke steering wheel. Features include a RATCO (Roadtronics Automotive Technology) throttle linkage, a locking glove box, manual crank windows, and new weatherstripping. The seller notes there is no radio.

Vehicle information is delivered through a 140-mph speedometer, 7K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and voltage. The seller reports there are 74,777 miles on the odometer, but true mileage on the vehicle is unknown.

The rebuilt 2.5-liter I6 has been outfitted with Patton Machine fuel injection, a Good Parts air induction system, an aluminum radiator shroud, a gear reduction starter, and a thermostatically controlled cooling fan as well as a spin-on oil filter adapter. The engine sends power to the road through an overhauled HVDA Toyota Celica 5-speed manual gearbox that enables the engine to run at 2,500 rpm at 60 mph.

Additional photos showing the condition of the undercarriage are in the gallery to the right.

A British heritage certificate is included with the sale of the vehicle.
