Vehicle Story

This 1966 Ford Mustang two-door hardtop has resided in a moderate southeast climate and presents a straight and rust-free body, an original-specification powertrain, wire hubcaps, and whitewall tires. Its powertrain consists of a 200ci Thriftpower inline-6 paired with a 3-speed manual transmission, with interior amenities encompassing an AM radio, bucket seating, and full gauges. Finished in Candy Apple Red over a black vinyl interior, this first-generation Mustang is now offered with a clear South Carolina title in the seller’s name.

Classified internally as the T-5 project, the original Mustang pony car debuted for model year 1965 and shared common chassis elements with existing Ford vehicles including the Falcon. Moderate trim changes were introduced the following year including a revised slotted grille, a new fuel cap, and modified moldings. This Mustang two-door hardtop from 1966 has a rust-free, southeastern-kept body in Candy Apple Red (T) and has reportedly been garage-kept under the seller’s ownership. Brightwork is in good condition and features include rocker moldings, a sideview mirror, and straight bumpers.

Steel 14-inch wheels with wire hubcaps are wrapped in whitewall tires.

The cabin is fitted with black vinyl low-back bucket seats and a rear bench, matched to the door panels, dash, headliner, and carpeting. Features include a push-button AM radio, a dash-mounted Mustang insignia, aluminum door sill plates, and a trunk-mounted plaid vinyl mat.

Instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. An under-dash accessory amperage meter is installed as well. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 67K miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The 200ci Thriftpower inline-6 resides in a matte-black engine bay and was rated at 120 horsepower. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted 3-speed manual transmission.

Hello, a few questions: does it have any other upgrades, power steering or brakes, how long ago was it painted and I did not see any in the pictures, but are there any dents or scratches? Thank you, Cynthia
