V8 Powered 1972 Porsche 911 Carrera

This custom-built 1972 Porsche 911 roadster is reportedly a Renegade Hybrids conversion that originated as a Targa and was subsequently restored to a wide body with a whale tail spoiler and a 350ci V8 that is mated to a Porsche 930 5-speed manual transaxle. It has been with the seller for eight years and comes with fog lamps and upgraded wheels. Refinished in red with a black cloth retractable top with a new rear window over a black vinyl interior, this 911 is now offered with a clear Wisconsin title in the seller’s name.

This Porsche was originally built in 1972 as a 911T Targa. A previous owner put it through a total restoration in 2002 that resulted in a widebody roadster with custom framework and body modifications, an upgraded drivetrain, and fresh red paint. While detailed documentation outlining the build is unavailable, the conversion was reportedly performed by Renegade Hybrids of Las Vegas, Nevada. Renegade is a specialty shop that has carried out engine replacements and retrofits for Porsche models since 1983. Exterior attributes of this custom 911 include fog lamps, flared fenders, and a whale tail rear spoiler. The seller notes that the exterior needs some cosmetic attention and that a new rear plastic window has been installed. 

Silver aluminum five-spoke wheels are wrapped in tires that the seller suggests replacing.

The two-seat interior is fitted with black vinyl bucket seats that are free of rips or tears, matched to the door panels, padded dash, and carpeting. An AM/FM/cassette radio provides audio in the cockpit. The seller notes the driver-side armrest is missing and the driver-side interior door latch needs repair.

Factory VDO instrumentation includes a central 8K-rpm tachometer, 150-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 72K miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The upgraded, rear-mounted 350ci V8 crate engine was installed approximately 20 years ago. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a console-shifted Porsche 930 5-speed manual transaxle.
