OVERVIEW
This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door hardtop reportedly was in the southwest region before being relocated to Minnesota. It was modernized inside and out and is driven by an upgraded 6.0-liter V8 with a Holley electronic fuel injection system, an aluminum radiator, and a cold-air intake. Torque is transferred to a nine-inch rear end by a rebuilt 4-speed 4L60E automatic transmission. Equipment includes power disc brakes, power steering, staggered-diameter Foose chrome wheels, and a Bluetooth-compatible Kenwood audio system. Finished in red over a two-tone black and red vinyl interior, this Bel Air is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
This 1957 Bel Air two-door hardtop left the factory as a true Bel Air model per the C at the beginning of its VIN number and was subsequently turned into a restomod later in life. Fresh red paint was applied, which is described by the selling dealer as being in good condition. The exterior is trimmed with bright accents for the bumpers, side moldings, window trim, tailfins, and other ornamentation. Among the car’s added upgrades are electric windshield wipers and a dual-exhaust system with an outlet at both corners of the rear end.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Chrome Foose 18-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are wrapped in low-profile radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is fitted with front and rear bench seats that were upholstered in two-tone black and red vinyl, matched to the red metal dash, black carpeting, and black floor mats. The dash face is trimmed with a textured bezel and has a custom cutout in the center. Additional features include tinted windows, a custom cup holder, machined pedals, a chrome tilt steering column, a heater, a newer wiring harness, and a Kenwood AM/FM/CD player with Bluetooth connectivity. The trunk is carpeted and contains the spare tire and a JL Audio subwoofer in a custom enclosure.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Modern instrumentation from Dakota Digital includes a central 160-mph speedometer combined with an 8K-rpm tachometer, a voltage gauge, and a fuel gauge, all of which are flanked by a coolant temperature gauge and an oil pressure gauge. The odometer reads approximately 3K miles, which reflects the mileage accrued since the completion of the build. The true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The upgraded 6.0-liter V8 has a cast-iron block, Holley electronic fuel injection, an aluminum radiator, a serpentine belt system, a cold-air intake, and a red-top Optima battery. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 4-speed 4L60E automatic transmission connected to a nine-inch Ford rear end. The selling dealer notes that the transmission was reportedly rebuilt and equipped with a shift kit under prior ownership.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The chassis uses a Chevrolet Camaro-style independent front suspension and a four-link adjustable arrangement in the rear. Steering is power-assisted. Stopping power comes from power-assisted disc brakes. Additional photos showing the underside of the vehicle are available in the carousel.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Minnesota buyers will be responsible for tax, license, and title procurement fees. Out-of-state buyers will have to pay a $125 title procurement fee. The selling dealer has provided a video with an exterior walkaround, an interior tour, and start-up and idling footage below.
