OVERVIEW
This 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu convertible is a top-trim Super Sport model powered by a period-correct 283ci V8 backed by a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes power front disc brakes, custom upholstery, full gauges, SS badging, Rallye wheels, and a dual-exhaust system. Refinished in metallic burgundy with a retractable top over a white vinyl interior, this first-year Chevelle is now offered by the selling dealer with a convertible boot and a clear title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
Originally an Ermine White car (paint code 936), this convertible has been refinished in metallic burgundy. As shown by the number 5867 on its trim tag, this car is identified as a Malibu SS. Equipment includes exterior brightwork, quad headlights, SS emblems, a full-width taillight bezel, and a dual-exhaust setup with chrome outlets. The selling dealer’s video below includes an exterior walkaround that calls attention to specific paint blemishes.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Silver Rallye wheels with polished trim rings are wrapped in radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is fitted with reupholstered white vinyl fold-forward bucket seats at the front and a matching rear bench, color-keyed to the door panels and dash pad. Amenities include custom bowtie emblems in the seat backs, Malibu SS badging, and a center console. The trunk contains a vinyl mat, spare tire, and jack.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation is framed within a billet bezel and consists of a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, voltage, and oil pressure. An under-dash pod with three additional gauges has been added. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 32K miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The period-correct 283ci V8 sends power to the rear wheels via a console-shifted Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. The selling dealer’s video below shows a start-up and idling sequence.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Stopping comes from power disc brakes at the front and drums in the rear. Steering is power-assisted.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The sale includes a vinyl convertible boot.
