OVERVIEW
This 1968 Chevrolet El Camino Malibu underwent a frame-off restoration under the seller’s 10-year ownership. It is equipped with Rally wheels, a Vintage Air climate control system, disc brakes, and upgraded bucket seats. Power comes from a 350ci V8 crate engine mated to a rebuilt Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. Finished in Ermine White over a newer black vinyl interior, this third-generation El Camino is now offered with documents from the original owner, a build sheet, restoration receipts and photos, and a clear California title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
This El Camino reportedly started out prior to restoration as a 56,000-mile original vehicle. It underwent a frame-off overhaul under the seller’s ownership and was resprayed in Ermine White. The original bumpers have been re-chromed. Features include quad headlights, a driver-side mirror, Malibu badging, and a dual exhaust system. The seller has provided photos taken during the restoration in the gallery to the right.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel Rally wheels with polished trim rings are wrapped in Cooper Cobra Radial G/T raised-white-letter tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin offers an OPGI (Original Parts Group, Inc.) black vinyl interior kit with upgraded bucket seats and black surrounding materials. Features include Vintage Air climate control and a newer stereo system. The seller notes that the horn buttons need to be wired, the windshield wiper switch is inoperative, and the carpet behind the seats needs to be trimmed.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and supplementary readouts. The seller notes that the speedometer is not accurate. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 130 miles, but the seller asserts that it was reset at the time of restoration and the vehicle has in excess of 56,000 original miles.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The crate-sourced 350ci V8 was tuned up upon installation. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a rebuilt Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
During the restoration process, the frame was sandblasted and powder-coated. Stopping power comes from four-wheel disc brakes.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
