Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1931 Ford Model A coupe is powered by a 201ci L-head inline-four engine backed by a three-speed manual transmission. Features included aftermarket turn signals, a rear-mounted spare tire, a rumble seat, manual steering and windows, and mechanical brakes. Refinished in black over a burgundy cloth interior, this final-year Model A is available now and comes from the selling dealer with a clear Michigan title.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

During a restoration in 1974, the body and fenders were refinished in black. Features include chrome bumpers, aftermarket front and rear turn signals, a sealed-beam headlight conversion, cowl lamps, a four-piece hood, a chrome radiator shell, a black vinyl roof, and a windshield visor. Additional features include a driver-side mirror, black rubber-covered running boards, a cargo storage bracket, a rumble seat, and a rear-mounted spare tire. Signs of patina are shown in the photo gallery to the right.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of red Ford wire wheels with chrome center caps is wrapped in whitewall bias-ply tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The front bench seat is upholstered in burgundy cloth that shows signs of wear. The rumble seat area is upholstered in brown vinyl. Features include maroon cloth side panels, gray door panels, a black rubber floor mat, a floor-mounted manual transmission shifter, a black steel dashboard, a tilt-out windshield, mechanical brakes, and manual steering.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

A speedometer, a gas gauge, and an amp gauge are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 92,049 miles, which the selling dealer believes to be accurate.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 201ci L-head inline-four engine and backed by a three-speed manual transmission. The charging system has been upgraded to an alternator and electronic ignition has been installed. The selling dealer states that the battery was replaced in June of 2022.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Model A was factory-equipped with a solid I-beam front axle and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by mechanical drum brakes. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the carousel.

@Papa123 – When was the last time the engine was over hauled? What amount of work has done to the engine? How much corrosion has there been on the car? How much has been eliminated? The notes mentioned patina (nice way of saying worn or faded I didn’t bother with pictures from the carousel as pictures can seldom capture the nuances of wear and tear or faded paint, upholstery or metal fatigue. Taking that into consideration can you make a more detailed comment about the overall condition of the exposed metal in particularly the fenders, chassis and cab. ...

When was the last time the engine was over hauled? I do not have that information, but the previous owner had the car for over 20 years. What amount of work has done to the engine? SAA How much corrosion has there been on the car? The car is solid, the paint is faded in spots but there isn't rust. How much has been eliminated? SAA The notes mentioned patina (nice way of saying worn or faded I didn’t bother with pictures from the carousel as pictures can seldom capture the nuances of wear and tear or faded paint, upholstery or metal fatigue. Taking that into consideration can you make a more detailed comment about the overall condition of the exposed metal in particularly the fenders, chassis and cab. Like I said the car is real solid.
