Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 received a body-off restoration seven years ago and an upgraded rebuilt 428ci Cobra Jet V8, which is paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. According to the seller who has had the car for the last 15 years, it has won 1st place awards at car shows and has been featured in movies and on the cover of a Mustang magazine. Features include a hood scoop, a rear wing, factory air conditioning, power steering, an AM/FM radio, MSD ignition, and front and rear disc brakes. Refinished in Indian Fire Metallic over a black vinyl interior, this first-year Mustang Mach 1 is available now and comes with engine rebuild documentation and a clear New Mexico title in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

As part of the body-off restoration process carried out in 2015, the exterior was repainted Indian Fire Metallic with black and yellow Mach 1 side stripes. Flat black covers the majority of the hood and the rear spoiler. Features include a chin spoiler, chrome bumpers, fog lights, hood pins, a hood scoop, body-color mirror caps, side scoops, rear Mach 1 striping, quad exhaust finishers, and reverse lights.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of silver 14-inch steel wheels is wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with a black dashboard, a matching center console and door panels, black carpeting, and black vinyl seating consisting of high-back bucket seats in the front and a pair of connected fold-down seats in the rear. Simulated woodgrain trim is located on the door panels, dashboard, center stack, and center console. Equipment includes manual windows, a manual remote driver-side mirror, power steering, factory air conditioning, an AM/FM radio, and a functional original clock. The seller notes there are scuffs on the trim near the rear seats.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

Vehicle information is displayed on a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the alternator, fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. According to the seller, the five-digit analog odometer currently shows 11K miles, but there are only 3K miles on the upgraded engine. The seller states they purchased the car from the St. Louis Car Museum in Missouri when it had 62K original miles on it. The true mileage is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

This Mustang left Ford's San Jose, California factory with a 351ci V8, but it now has a rebuilt 428ci Cobra Jet V8 with MSD ignition and a new battery that was installed in July of 2022. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Disc brakes at all four corners help bring the car to a stop.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Engine rebuild documentation will be included with the sale of the vehicle.

@Robdawg71 – Is the upgraded engine still original to the car? ...

The car was originally a 351 Windsor

@Barrett-FL – Beautiful vehicle with great attention to detail...except the left side stripes which are not straight. Most unfortunate. Glad to see it has A/C, could be a candidate for Florida ownership! ...

Barely noticeable....and... They weren't perfectly straight from the factory.

Love it when a full restoration to a Mustang is referred to as "body off"! The body does not come off, as it is a uni- body car.. Maybe a full restoration, a rotisserie restoration, or a nuts and bolts restoration... but I doubt a body off restoration. No offense intended, just clarifying.
