1934 Pierce-Arrow 836A Brougham

OVERVIEW

This 1934 Pierce-Arrow 836A Brougham is a luxury sedan with suicide doors, exterior-mounted horns, a push-button ignition system, and wire wheels on whitewall tires. Under the hood, the 366ci inline-eight engine is fed by a Stromberg carburetor and an electric fuel pump and transfers power rearward through a three-speed manual transmission with a freewheeling mode. Refinished in two-tone gray and black with a black vinyl roof panel over a gray cloth interior, this Pierce-Arrow is now offered by the selling dealer with a spare tire cover and clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

This 836A Brougham has been repainted in two-tone gray and black and is topped with a black vinyl roof panel. Additional exterior elements include headlights faired into the front fenders, chrome horns, running boards, rear-hinged rear doors, and a full-size spare tire mounted at the back. The brightwork is described as being in good condition, although the selling dealer notes that there are some areas of paint imperfections as pointed out in the walkaround video below.

Color-matched gray wire wheels with bright center caps are wrapped in whitewall tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior is fitted with dual bench seats upholstered in striped gray cloth, complemented by matching door panels and darker charcoal carpeting. Features include glossy woodgrain trim, a rear passenger footrest, and a push-button ignition system. According to the selling dealer, the radio powers up but blows a fuse.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instruments include a non-operational 100-mph speedometer accompanied by an analog clock and gauges for the oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 4K miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 366ci inline-eight is equipped with a Stromberg carburetor and an electric fuel pump. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted three-speed manual transmission with a freewheeling system that allows clutchless shifting into second and third gears.
