OVERVIEW
This 1940 Ford sedan delivery underwent a full refurbishment and is upgraded with American Racing wheels, a CD sound system, air conditioning, VDO gauges, and front disc brakes. Power is sourced from a Chevrolet 350ci crate V8 paired with a 3-speed Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Finished in Fire Engine Red over a tan vinyl interior, this sedan delivery is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear Texas title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
This sedan delivery was recoated in Fire Engine Red about 10 years ago per the selling dealer and it shows well aside from some age-related cracking and a minor ding on the passenger side rear fender. Exterior features include chrome bumpers and headlight rings, a body-colored grille, a passenger side-mounted spare wheel and tire, and dual sideview mirrors. The hood and the barn-style rear doors are solenoid-controlled.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Chrome-finished five-spoke American Racing wheels are wrapped in black wall tires with a matching spare affixed on the passenger side.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is fitted with reupholstered tan vinyl front buckets, matched to the door panels and carpeting. Amenities include a vinyl headliner, lap belts, a Lecarra steering wheel, air conditioning, power windows, an Alpine AM/FM/CD head unit, and a fully carpeted cargo compartment.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Modern VDO instrumentation is comprised of a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges showing fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 25K miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The Chevrolet 350ci crate V8 is upgraded with an electric fan, an Optima battery, and a stainless-steel exhaust system. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a 3-speed Turbo 400 automatic transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Handling is assisted by power rack and pinion steering, and stopping comes from power brakes with discs up front and drums in the rear. The rear suspension uses adjustable coilover shock absorbers.
