OVERVIEW
This reportedly rust-free 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS was built in Chevrolet's Kansas City, Missouri plant and has been with the same owner since the mid-1980s. It is powered by a 1970 Nova 396ci V8 backed by a Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission. Features include power front disc brakes, a functional cowl-induction hood, a Hurst shifter, and SS trim. Finished in Cranberry Red with black stripes over a black vinyl and cloth interior, this Chevelle SS is available now and comes from the selling dealer with an owner’s manual and a clear Michigan title.
EXTERIOR - FEATURES
The exterior has been repainted in the original color of Cranberry Red (paint code 75) as verified by the data tag. Features include black SS stripes, chrome bumpers, a black grille with an SS emblem, a functioning cowl-induction hood, hood pins, dual mirrors, SS 396 fender emblems, wheel opening moldings, and black rear bumper trim with an SS emblem. An exterior walk-around video can be seen below.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of metallic silver 14-inch SS Rally wheels with chrome SS center caps and stainless trim rings is wrapped in 215/70 Goodyear Eagle ST radial tires.
INTERIOR - FEATURES
The selling dealer states the interior is original. The front bench seat and matching rear seat are upholstered in black vinyl with Roncina cloth inserts as verified by the 759 trim code on the data tag. Features include black rear trim and door panels, manual windows, manual steering, power front disc brakes, a floor-mounted Hurst manual shifter, and a two-spoke steering wheel with an SS emblem. The selling dealer notes that all aftermarket speakers are still hooked up and that the radio is functional, but not connected.
INTERIOR - GAUGES
A 120-mph speedometer, a nonfunctional fuel gauge, and warning lights for the generator, temperature, and oil pressure are located ahead of the driver. An additional set of aftermarket gauges for the oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, and vacuum is located under the dashboard. The odometer reads 44,327 miles, which the selling dealer believes to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a 1970 Nova W-stamped 396ci V8 engine with a different VIN stamping and backed by a reportedly date-code-correct Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission. Underhood features include chrome valve covers, a black air cleaner with a chrome lid and a 396 decal, an aluminum intake, and a windshield washer.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This Chevelle was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid 12-bolt rear drive axle. The chassis features a larger sway bar and boxed rear trailing arms. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the carousel to the right.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The selling dealer will include an owner’s manual with the sale.

No, it is an original 44k mile car with one re-paint.
@Bowtie – Is this a true SS ? ...
Yes, it is a true SS. Evidence is the "L" stamping on the Fisher Body tag from a Kansas City build. The front sway bar is the larger 1.25", has the bolt attaching the rag joint on the steering column, 12 bolt rear end, boxed trailing arms, no trim molding on the side window areas, black grille, clear turn signal lenses, black rubber SS pad on rear bumper, round gauge pods.
