Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1971 Chevrolet Camaro RS coupe has driven fewer than 2,000 miles on a high-performance 383ci stroker V8 upgraded with a FITech fuel injection system, aluminum heads, and a high-rise intake. Torque is transferred rearward to a set of American Racing wheels through a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a Positraction rear end with 2.73 gearing. Finished in Dark Blue Metallic with gray accent striping over a black vinyl interior, this garage-kept Camaro is now offered by the selling dealer with receipts, a 2022 third-party inspection report and appraisal, and a clear South Carolina title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

During the restoration process completed in 2019, the body was recoated in Midnight Blue with gray accent striping. Features include chrome brightwork, Rally Sport badging, dual color-matched sport mirror caps, a trunk spoiler, and a dual exhaust system.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

American Racing five-spoke 18-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are wrapped in staggered-width Continental ExtremeContact tires that measure 235/45 at the front and 275/35 in the rear.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is fitted with black vinyl bucket front and bench rear seating and matching materials for the door panels, dash, center console, and carpeting. A radio and a FiTech control pad are present.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 150-mph speedometer, a clock, and a fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 78,909 miles, although the actual mileage on the car is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 383ci stroker V8 is rated at 450 horsepower per the selling dealer and has accrued approximately 1,500 miles since installation. It has been upgraded with a high-rise intake, aluminum heads, and FiTech electronic fuel injection. Power is sent to the back wheels via a console-shifted 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The 10-bolt Positraction rear end is equipped with 2.73 gearing. Additional photos showing the underside are available in the carousel to the right.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Receipts and a 2022 third-party inspection report and appraisal are included with the sale of the car.

@Balocco – My understanding is that the 273 ratio benefits fuel efficiency at top speeds by keeping the engine revs down. Slower 0-60 but better for at speed or highway driving. Maybe I’m wrong cause I am a noob trying to learn. ...

You are correct! Takes good care of the engine and transmission.. always an easy option to change if you want more acceleration

@ajfmotorsports – It was a typo in the ad due my miscommunication with auto hunter. No issue with the 2.73 gear itself. Appreciate your understanding! Merry Christmas and best wishes to all! ...

@RcR – I'm surprised potential buyers don't understand your statement that the 273 ratio will be fixed, it's glaringly obvious what you mean. I hope this comment doesn't offend anyone, long time hot rodders have a manner of speaking that noobs just don't understand. Have a blessed day and Merry Christmas! ...
