Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This imported 1976 Nissan Patrol 4x4 sport utility vehicle received a mechanical and cosmetic overhaul within the past year and is powered by a 4.0-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes a newer soft top, bucket seats, a modern audio system, and a swing-away spare tire carrier. Finished in orange over a black vinyl interior, this Patrol is now offered by a repeat AutoHunter seller with import and EPA documentation, license plates, and transferrable Vermont registration in the current owner's name. The vehicle has been transported from it's home in Vermont to the sellers storage facility in Miami, Florida.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The 2022 restoration process included body disassembly, rust removal, and a respray in orange. The original soft top frame was recovered in black fabric. In addition, the rubber, glass, and various trim components were replaced. Features include a black front bumper, mesh grilles, dual hood-mounted mirrors, and a spare tire on a swing-away carrier at the rear.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

The black steel wheels are wrapped in worn Kumho Road Venture tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior is fitted with new floors, newer black vinyl Nissan-branded bucket seats up front, a matching forward-facing rear bench, and body-colored metal panels for the doors and other areas of the cabin. The floor in the first row is covered with a rubber mat. Upgrades include a modern audio system, USB ports, and fresh air vents.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 140-km/h speedometer and a combination gauge for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 91,493 kilometers (56,851 miles), but the true mileage on the vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The 4.0-liter OHC inline-six was rated at 145 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque and reportedly runs well with no outstanding mechanical needs. It received service to the carburetor, electrical system, and other mechanical areas in 2022 including the installation of new connecting rods, pistons, and seals. Power is sent to the wheels via a refurbished floor-shifted three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The shock absorbers, bushings, and kingpins were replaced within the last 500 miles. The unassisted four-wheel drum brakes received new shoes in May of 2022. The suspension uses a leaf-spring setup and is equipped with soft dampers for off-road use.  A steering alignment was carried out in September. Additional photos showing the underside are available in the carousel on the right.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The seller has provided a series of videos below that show the exterior, interior, a start-up, and driving dynamics. The sale includes import and EPA documentation, license plates, and transferrable Vermont registration in the current owner's name. The vehicle does not have a title because Vermont does not issue titles on vehicles older than 15 years and only requires registration.

@pondf16 – I am not trying to be a jerk, but in the past 7 months since the car came to the US, the car has been in Vermont, Arizona and Miami? The photos with ocean in the background are certainly not Arizona. You said the pics were taken while your boss was driving on a trip, but there is no license plate on the back when he was on the trip. It is a nice vehicle but your responses just don't add up. ...

The answers are correct, my boss has taken his cars to even more states, there is nothing unusual about this, it just seems that for no reason you intend to damage the auction. Autohunter does a complete review of all documents before going with an online auction, this is not the only car we have auctioned. I have already provided the license plate number and registration number, you can contact the DMV if you want. But please have respect for this auction and for this brand. You are welcome to see the car in person.

@pondf16 – Thanks. The photos look like they are not taken in the US because it looks tropical and there are mountains in the background. The only place in the US where that we have mountains and tropical coast is Hawaii. If the photos were taken on his trip, the Patrol does not have a license plate on the back. So that is why I was wondering about it. Has it been parked undercover for the 7 or 8 months it has been in the US or has it been parked outside in the weather? ...

I just consulted and the photos are in Arizona, if I confirm that there are photographs from before arriving in the United States, but you can easily differentiate them. No, the car has not been parked for 7 months, it is a car that has been used in a conventional way. Since the plates have to be returned to the Vermont DMV, the plates were not placed in the photos. Well the car has been in the seasons that it is in Vermont most of the time. The car is exactly what you see in the photographs. Thanks for your questions. If you want you can go check the car in person, several bidders have done it.

@Escofon – Thanks for your questions: 1. Part of the restoration done in my boss's workshop in Colombia (he has a workshop in Germany and Spain as well), however some modifications made in our workshop in the United States. 2. Imported for around 7 months. 3. Of course it has green State of Vermont plate # KFW491, in case you want to confirm it. 4. I confirm that multiple trips have been made in this car, and it has participated in several offroad meetings. Let me know if you have any more questions, or if you want to come visit the car. ...

@Escofon – Thank you for your questions, here are the answers: 1. I'm not sure, but I assume that around a month, on a trip that my boss took in it. 2. If they were taken in the United States, from the set of photos there must be a few previous ones. 3. Between 7 and 8 months. 4. I would say at least once or twice a week, it's one of my boss's drives. 5. Change of engine and transmission fluids, and a change of transmission gaskets. I hope these answers are helpful to you, let me know if you need anything additional. ...

The car have registration from Vermont, Well, in this state, titles are not issued for cars older than 15 years. The title is transferable and the bill of sale will obtain the title in any state of the United States. Another common question that I resolve is that the car was in Vermont, but we wanted to make some small repairs and our trusted mechanic for Nissan Patrol is in Miami, so the car is there. We are frequent and responsible sellers, please get in touch if you have a question, or if you want to go and see the car in person.
