OVERVIEW
This Z28-style 1970 Chevrolet Camaro hardtop received recent work on the air conditioning system, fluids, chassis, and carburetor. It is powered by a Turbo Fire 5.7-liter V8 mated to a 7004R4 four-speed automatic transmission and is equipped with a stainless steel dual exhaust system, power steering and brakes, a center console, and Firestone raised-white-letter tires. Finished in red with a black vinyl top over a beige vinyl interior, this second-generation Camaro is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear Florida title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
This vehicle was previously sold on AutoHunter in August 2022 and underwent mechanical improvements under the selling dealer’s ownership since then. The red body has white accent striping and a black vinyl top. Exterior features include chrome accents, Z28 badging, a rear spoiler, and a stainless steel dual exhaust system.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel 15-inch wheels with bowtie-branded center caps are wrapped in Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 raised-white-letter tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cabin is equipped with beige vinyl high-back bucket seats up front, a rear bench, and matching door panels. The dash, carpeting, and center console are finished in black. Interior amenities include a radio, embroidered floor mats, factory air conditioning, and a spare tire in the vinyl-lined trunk.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation consists of a 150-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm odometer, and ancillary gauges for the coolant temperature, fuel level, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 55,297 miles, which the selling dealer states is accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The Turbo Fire 5.7-liter V8 received mechanical work within the last six months including a change of the fluids, a cooling system flush, repairs to the air conditioning system, and service to the carburetor. In addition, two small exhaust leaks have been fixed. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Driving aids include power steering and power-assisted disc brakes up front with drums in the rear. A recent alignment was performed under the selling dealer’s ownership. New greaseable U-joints were added to the front and rear of the driveshaft.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Texas buyers are responsible for a 6.25-percent sales tax plus a $125 title transfer and registration fee.

The trim tag has been painted over but I was able to make out the numbers but they won't photograph. This is what I can make out so I hope they are correct and will identify the information that you are looking for. Body By Fisher ST70 12487 NOR282132 BDY TR 710 75 A PNT 05A The description of the transmission is incorrect. It is a 3 speed automatic not a 4 speed automatic. Thanks Mike
Could you send me a picture of the Trim Tag located on the upper flat portion of the Cowl next to the Driver's Side Windshield. It will identify, if this is a real Z28. Also would like to see a picture of the Transmission Pan, since the details indicate that the transmission is a 700R4 (4-Speed Automatic), but the dash indicator shows it to be a 3-Speed Automatic. The correct transmission for a '70 Z28 would be a TH400 , 3-Speed Automatic (not a TH350 either). Unfortunately, it appear someone has added Z298 badging to this Camaro. The fender Z28 emblem would have been a individual emblem, without the Camaro script, which was only on Base Models. The A/C is very questionable, since A/C was not available on '70 Z28 Camaros. Also, "70 Z28 Camaros originally had 12-Bolt rear ends. Please check the casting number on the back driver's sid e of the block, which should be 3970010; and also if you can see the stamp on the front engine pad in front of the passenger side head, it should have a suffix code at the end of string of letters/number, starting with a T, then four numbers, then CTC, for a 350cid, 360hp Z28 engine with automatic transmission. The 1970 Camaro you have is very desirable with the A/C, rear spoiler and Z28 style wheels, but I am afraid it is definitely not a real Z28. However, I am interested! Thank You!
@slamagna – Forgot to mention on my earlier comment. All 1970 Z-28 Vehicles came with a factory Tachometer. Thanks. ...
I am going to have to trust in your word on that. I have not come across that yet in my research but I will keep looking! Thanks for the info.

@hms – Obviously I am not the authority that you are. I will do some additional research, but as I said in a previous reply I bought the car as a Z28 Camaro and I see no reason to think that it is not. I would suggest to anyone that is interested in bidding on the car to do their own research. Thanks Mike ...
Sorry for the double reply!
@RebelPatriot – No 70 Z28 came with A/C or 10 bolt rear end. ...

@slamagna – Can you add a photo of the option plate on the cowl, under the hood drivers side.? I have a 70 Z-28 and this one would be a nice addition if it is a Z-28. Also, Chevrolet says No 70 Z-28 came with air conditioning due to a factory high revving solid lifter 350 makes it a no no. Thanks ...
If you view the pictures carefully you can see that the under side of the hood has been repainted back during the restoration so the option plates is no longer visible.
