OVERVIEW
This 1965 Pontiac GTO is powered by a 389ci V8 backed by a Muncie four-speed manual transmission. Features include power steering, bucket seats, a center console, a Sony AM/FM/cassette stereo, and an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor. Finished in Montero Red over a red vinyl interior, this reportedly rust-free GTO is available now and comes from the selling dealer with a repair manual, a car billing history card, and a clear Kansas title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The exterior is finished in the original color of Montero Red (code R), as shown on the trim tag. Features include chrome bumpers, GTO and Hurst emblems, a hood scoop, a manual remote driver-side mirror, and wheel well and rocker trim. The selling dealer states that the paint is not perfect, but the flaws cannot be seen in the photos of the car.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of silver 14-inch Pontiac Rally I-style wheels is wrapped in 225/75 Coker Classic Redline radial tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The front bucket seats and the rear seat are upholstered in red vinyl. Features include a center console, power steering, manual brakes and windows, an AM radio, a Sony AM/FM/cassette stereo in the glove box, and a three-spoke wood-rim steering wheel. The selling dealer states that there are rips in the front seats.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
A 120-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, a fuel gauge, and warning lights for the coolant temperature, battery, and oil pressure are located in a simulated woodgrain panel ahead of the driver. A set of three gauges that shows the oil pressure, amperage, and coolant temperature is located under the dashboard. The odometer reads 83,502 miles, which the dealer reports to be accurate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a non-numbers-matching 389ci V8 that was overhauled and bored .060 over in 1998. That comes paired with a Muncie four-speed manual transmission. Engine bay features include chrome valve covers, a four-barrel Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold, a Mallory distributor, and a chrome air cleaner.
UNDERCARRIAGE
This GTO was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by four-wheel drum brakes. A full-length dual exhaust system exits at the rear.
