OVERVIEW
This 1941 Plymouth PT-125 underwent a frame-off restoration that involved the installation of new body panels, glass, and weatherstripping; the replacement of the wood bed floor planks and stainless steel hardware; and the frame and suspension being refurbished. Since then, it has covered only 270 miles and won 1st place awards from the Plymouth Owners Club. It is powered by a rebuilt 201ci flathead inline-six engine backed by a three-speed manual transmission. Finished in Mountain Orange and black over a newer brown vinyl interior, this Plymouth truck is available now and comes from the selling dealer with a clear Virginia title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
During the restoration, rusted body panels and the glass and weatherstripping were replaced. The body was coated in a two-tone Mountain Orange and black finish. Features include chrome bumpers, chrome grille trim, Plymouth emblems, cowl lamps, a tilt-out windshield, dual mirrors, a cab-mounted fuel tank filler, black running boards with brass step plates, a stepside bed with a reportedly like-new wood bed floor, and a tailgate with padded chains.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of Mountain Orange steel wheels with chrome Plymouth dog dish hub caps is wrapped in Goodyear bias-ply tires. The selling dealer states that the tires were new in 2007.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
According to the selling dealer, the entire cab was restored along with the rest of the truck. The bench seat is upholstered in newer brown vinyl. Features include manual windows, brakes, and steering; a floor-mounted manual shifter; a Mopar Deluxe heater; and a turn signal assembly.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
An 80-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and amperage are located ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 270 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a rebuilt 201ci flathead inline-six engine that the selling dealer believes is original to the truck and backed by a three-speed manual transmission. The restored engine compartment features a body-color firewall, a firewall-mounted coil, a black air filter, a horn, a single-barrel carburetor, and an external canister-style oil filter.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The restored undercarriage features a solid front I-beam axle and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by manual hydraulic four-wheel drums. A single exhaust system exits at the rear. The selling dealer states that corrosion is present on the tailpipe.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
According to the selling dealer, this truck won Best of Show awards from the Plymouth Owners Club. The following link shows it received a Class 20F award from the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) as part of the Eastern Division National Spring Meet in Canandaigua, New York on June 5, 2010: https://aaca.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/2010_Canandaigua.pdf

@widhebid – Can you tell me what year the restoration was finished or done? ...
Sorry, I missed that part of your earlier question. Judging from hard-to-decipher date coding on the back of some of restoration-in-progress photos it appears that the restoration was likely completed in 2004. We do know that the restored truck won a First at the 2005 National Summer Meet of the Plymouth Owners Club and a similar First the following year at the Club's National Spring meet. The magazines that document those awards will part of the materials given to the successful bidder.
Can you tell me what year the restoration was finished or done?
Good morning: thank you, it really is a beautiful restoration. It was directed by a member of the Plymouth Club who registered the truck in New York. We believe our customer is either the first or second owner after restoration, and the odometer reading is believed to be the mileage since restoration. Not sure about the number of coats of paint.
This is a beautiful truck, 1-I was wondering who did the restoration? 2-Also, can you tell me how many coats of paint was used? 3-I realize there are very low miles on odometer but what year was the restoration finished? 4. are you the original owner after restoration. 5-Are there 270 original miles after full restoration? thank you!
