1957 CHEVROLET NOMAD

OVERVIEW

This restored 1957 Chevrolet Nomad is powered by a 283ci V8 backed by a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. Factory power features include the steering, brakes, windows, and front seat. Additional features include full-wheel covers, an AM radio, and a rebuilt carburetor. Finished in silver and ivory over a red vinyl and black cloth interior, this Nomad is available now and comes from the selling dealer with a car cover and a clear Illinois title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

During the restoration, the exterior was refinished in silver and ivory. Features include chrome bumpers with accessory bumper guards, a gold grille with chrome trim, electric windshield wipers, a driver-side mirror, full-length Bel Air side trim, rocker trim, sliding quarter windows, and rear tailgate trim. The selling dealer states that there are minor spots that have been touched up and the passenger-side window has a small crack in it.  

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 14-inch body-color steel wheels with full hub caps is wrapped in 7.50-14 BFGoodrich whitewall bias-ply tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The power front bench seat, rear seat, trim, and door panels are upholstered in red vinyl with black cloth inserts. Power features include the steering, brakes, and windows. Additional features include an AM radio, red vinyl floor mats, a folding rear seat, red vinyl cargo area flooring, and a column-mounted automatic shifter. The selling dealer states that the radio and horn are not working.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature are mounted ahead of the driver. The odometer reads 8 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a non-numbers-matching, period-correct 283ci V8 and backed by a reportedly numbers-matching Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. The selling dealer states that the engine has received a carburetor overhaul and a full tune-up.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The restored chassis features an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. The chassis, suspension, and underbody surfaces have been restored to the factory specifications and colors. Braking is provided by power four-wheel drums. A full-length dual exhaust system exits at the rear. The selling dealer states that the brake system has been completely overhauled.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The selling dealer charges a $347 documentation fee in addition to the price of the car. Residents of Illinois will be required to pay Illinois state sales tax; residents of reciprocal states (Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, and Wisconsin) will have to pay the sales tax of their respective states. A car cover will be included with the purchase of the vehicle.
