Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air was put through a $28,000 repair and restoration process and is powered by a 383ci V8 engine backed by a four-speed manual transmission. Features include power front disc brakes, Boyd Coddington wheels, new Cooper tires, and electric windshield wipers. Finished in black over a tan vinyl interior, this Bel Air is available now and comes with service records and a clear California title in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

After this car was rear-ended, the exterior was repaired and refinished in black in 2018 by Auto-B-Craft Collision Center of Long Beach, California  According to the seller, the process cost $28,000, which is shown in the included receipts. Features include chrome bumpers, gold V emblems, chrome mirror caps, Bel Air side trim, rocker trim, and a hidden fuel filler. The seller states that the door key lock is functional but temperamental.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of five-spoke Boyd Coddington aluminum wheels is wrapped in new Cooper Cobra radial tires installed in January 2023.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The front bench seat, rear seat, trim, and door panels are upholstered in tan vinyl. Features include a floor-mounted manual transmission shifter, manual windows and steering, power brakes, electric windshield wipers, and a digital stereo.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature are located ahead of the driver. An accessory set of three gauges with readouts for the coolant temperature, voltage, and oil pressure is located under the dashboard. With 500 miles added during current ownership, the odometer reads 37,415 miles, but the true mileage is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 383ci V8 equipped with a 400ci V8's crankshaft and paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Engine bay features include finned aluminum valve covers, an aluminum intake, a chrome air cleaner, and a chrome alternator. The seller states that new brass freeze plugs and valve cover gaskets, a new master cylinder, and a new alternator were installed in January 2023. A month later, a new carburetor, thermostat, and air filter were installed. In addition, the car received new coolant and an octane booster.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Bel Air was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. A full-length dual exhaust system exits at the rear. New parts installed in January 2023 include the rear brake shoes, rear wheel cylinders, fuel tank, and fuel-sending unit. The seller states there is undercarriage discoloration.
