OVERVIEW
This 1966 Ford Thunderbird hardtop was restored both inside and out in 2009 and has been garage-kept since that time. It features newer paint and upholstery, a tilt-away steering wheel, an AM radio, factory air conditioning, cruise control, sequential turn signals, and a dual exhaust system. Power is provided by a rebuilt fuel-injected 390ci V8 mated to an automatic transmission. Service performed within the last year includes the replacement of engine and transmission fluids and the installation of new braking system components. Finished in Wimbledon White over a white leather interior, this fourth-generation Thunderbird is now offered with an owner’s manual, a shop manual, and a clear Mississippi title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The reportedly rust-free exterior was recoated in Wimbledon White in 2009 under prior ownership. Features include quad headlights, chrome brightwork, sequential taillight turn signals, "Thunderbird" script badging, and a dual exhaust system.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel 15-inch wheels with full hubcaps are wrapped in newer whitewall tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The interior is fitted with newer white leather on the front bucket seats and matching colors for the rear bench, dash, door panels, and headliner. Amenities include a tilt-away steering wheel, a center console, an aftermarket cruise control system, an AM radio, embroidered floor mats, factory air conditioning, and a trunk-mounted spare tire with a jack along with a patterned trunk mat. The seller notes that there are cracks in the driver's armrest and the steering wheel.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges that show the oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 93,275 miles, which the seller asserts is a true reading.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 390ci V8 was rebuilt in 2009 and has been upgraded with an aftermarket Holley Sniper fuel injection system. The drivetrain is said to be free of smoke or leaks. Recent mechanical updates include the replacement of the air conditioning system's high-pressure line, a new battery, an oil change, a tune-up, a transmission fluid change, and a radiator flush. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted automatic transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
Additional updates include the replacement of the master cylinder, brake booster, and front and rear brake lines.
