1965 Volkswagen Beetle

OVERVIEW

This 1965 Volkswagen Beetle coupe underwent frame-off restoration and received a powertrain tune-up along with recent work to the braking system. EXTERIOR – FEATURES

This rust-free Beetle’s red paint was reapplied via frame-off restoration, although the seller notes that it could use a color-sand and buff for optimal show-quality finish. Features include chrome bumpers with overriders, fender-mounted marker lamps, black running boards, and a driver sideview mirror.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Body-color steel 15-inch wheels are wrapped in Coker Classic 165-series wide whitewall tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior is fitted with two-tone red and white vinyl seats up front, a bench in the rear, and matching door panels and dash. The carpeting is trimmed in contrasting black, and amenities include an AM/FM/ audio system, a passenger-side grab handle, door-mounted map pockets, and lap belts.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 90-mph speedometer and a fuel gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 11,184 miles. The instruments received new bulbs recently.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The rear-mounted, air-cooled 1,200cc flat-four received a tune-up within the last two months that included replacement of the distributor cap, spark plugs, and wires. A valve adjustment was performed at the same time, and power is fed to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted four-speed manual transaxle.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The brakes were replaced about 100 miles ago, including new shoes, new wheel cylinder kits, and new drums. Additionally, the axle seals and brake fluid were replaced.
