Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1948 Lincoln 292cid flathead V12 engine underwent an $8,700+ rebuild by H&H Flatheads of La Crescenta, California in 2022. Several new parts, including the main bearings, rod bearings, valves, springs, and lifters, have been installed and the engine was assembled after final cleaning and balancing. It comes from the selling dealer with a bill of sale.

ENGINE – FEATURES

The following updates were made to the engine during the $8,748 rebuild:

  • Block and heads: Disassembled, hot-tanked, acid-dipped, Magnafluxed, and pressure-tested
  • Main bore alignment was checked for size and straightness
  • Lifter bores were drilled
  • All three deck sides were resurfaced off of the main bearing center line
  • All of the cylinders were bored off of the main bearing center line
  • Valve seats were three-angle cut and ground
  • Interior of the block was painted
  • Block was ceramically pressure-sealed at 180 degrees and 20 pounds of pressure to ensure no leaks were present
  • All bolt holes were chased with a tap
  • The camshaft was hot-tanked, straightened, checked for center, reground, and Parkerized
  • Rotating and reciprocating assemblies were dynamically balanced within 0.5 grams and a one-inch centerline
  • The entire short block was assembled after the final cleaning

@John_s – Sorry if I keep asking but I’m legally blind and can see picture details. Also I happen to be traveling in Asia and will return to California April 3rd. If I win bid I make have delay in getting motor shipped but should have no problems getting funds to you. Of course if I’m successful. I plan to instal motor in my 42 Continental ...

Not a problem at all, there is a stamp for A31622 on the bell housing and a tag that is attached to the engine with the build date of 12-11-47.
