Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1970 Oldsmobile 442 Holiday Coupe was with the original owner and former chief of the Los Angeles Police Department Tom Reddin from 1970 until 2004. It has logged 3,500 miles since undergoing a frame-off restoration. Power is supplied by the reportedly numbers-matching L31 455cid V8 backed by the reportedly original TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. Features include an OAI (Outside Air Induction) hood, a tilt steering column, power steering, power windows and locks, bucket seats, an AM radio, an 8-track tape player, air conditioning, and power front disc brakes. Finished in Astro Blue over a blue vinyl interior, this 442 comes with copies of the vehicle purchase order, build sheet, and Protect-O-Plate and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

According to the seller, the reportedly rust-free body has all of its original panels. Originally Azure Blue (code 20), it was refinished in Astro Blue under previous ownership. Features include chrome bumpers, T3 headlights, an OAI (Outside Air Induction) hood, twist-lock hood pins, dark blue hood scoop accent stripes, dual sport mirror housings with a manual driver-side remote, wheel opening and rocker trim, and blue side and trunk accent stripes. The seller states that all of the exterior lighting works.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of 14-inch Oldsmobile Super Stock II wheels is wrapped in Radial-Bias Look Firestone Wide Oval White Letter Tires

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The cabin is furnished with blue vinyl front bucket seats and a matching rear seat surrounded by blue vinyl door panels and trim. Features include power windows and locks, a four-way power driver’s seat, a tilt steering column-mounted automatic transmission shifter, a sport steering wheel, air conditioning, power steering, an AM radio, a factory 8-track player, and woodgrain trim. The seller states that all of the interior features work with the exception of the power driver’s seat. Although it does have power, it only moves back and forth about one inch.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

A 120-mph speedometer, a clock, a fuel gauge, and warning lights for various systems are located ahead of the driver. The five-digit odometer has rolled over and shows 13,487 miles, which equates to 113,487 actual miles.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 365-horsepower L31 455cid V8 equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and backed by a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission, both of which are numbers-matching, according to the seller.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Oldsmobile is equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle with 3.23:1 gears. Braking is provided by power front discs and rear drums. A Gardner dual exhaust system exits at the rear. The seller states that the original spiral shocks were rebuilt during the restoration.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The seller will include copies of the vehicle purchase order, build sheet, and Protect-O-Plate with the purchase of the car.
