This 1946 GMC medium-duty truck is a cab-over-engine (COE) design that was modified by the seller to run a wedgeback bed made of hardwood for transporting vehicles. Said to have been completely stripped down and painted with a lacquer finish, the truck is powered by a rebuilt GMC straight-six and runs a 12-volt electrical system, and is fitted with a custom Cherrywood front bumper made by the seller. On the ramp bed sits a 1961 Nash Metropolitan (chassis no. E67771) wearing new chrome which needs interior work according to the seller. Both vehicles are offered as a package deal on a set of clear Colorado titles in the seller's name.
GMC sold its line of medium-duty trucks under an alphabetic naming scheme from 1939 until 1959, and this example is designated with an E for 1946 and an F to denote the cab-over-engine (COE) style. The seller describes the cab as having been resprayed with lacquer paint inside and out after it was completely stripped. The front end is fitted with a custom bumper made from Cherrywood with matching burled walnut caps, and five-lug truck wheels are wrapped in tires from different manufacturers are present all around.
The wedgeback ramp bed was also custom-made by the seller and is constructed of Walnut, Anigre, and Curly Oak. Wheel chocks can be fitted to secure cargo, and the 1961 Nash Metropolitan, which features new chrome trim, is sold as part of the deal.
The interior of the cab has also been redone and features a modern set of seats along with carpeting and refinished surfaces. The instrument panel and dash are painted black with the former containing switchgear and controls. The Nash Metropolitan is described as needing interior work.
In front of the driver sits a single-pane gauge array with one large arch for the 80-mph speedometer and smaller peripheral scales for amperage, coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure, with an instructional plaque mounted above.
Motivation comes from the original inline-six engine which was rated at 89.5 horsepower at 3,000 rpm according to a riveted placard. The engine has been rebuilt according to the seller and routes power to a 2-speed rear axle with high and low range. Although the speedometer has a scale of 80 mph, trucks like this typically topped out well below 50.
Photos of the underside are available for viewing in the image carousel and allow for a glimpse of the underpinnings and running gear.
This 1946 GMC COE wedgeback vehicle hauler and the accompanying 1961 Nash Metropolitan are offered on clear Colorado titles in the seller's name.

@borbon26 – How would you load a vehicle on the bed? No pictures. ...
Hello Borbon26, We used a forklift to get the Nash on and off the truck bed. The idea was meant just to show case a car, although a ramp could be used. Hope that was helpful:-)
