Vehicle Story

This 1996 Cadillac DeVille was purchased by the seller's father in September 1996, and it was transferred to the seller in 2017. Garage-kept and well-maintained since new, the car is powered by its original 4.6-liter Northstar V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Recent work consisted of the replacement of the alternator, air conditioning system, and water pump, and the car is outfitted with a new stereo with WiFi and a backup camera. Finished in White Diamond Pearl Tri-Coat over a blue leather interior, this seventh-generation DeVille is now offered with the car’s original radio, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Virginia title in the seller’s name.

The body is reported to retain its original White Diamond Pearl Tri-Coat (93), which is accented by a chrome-trimmed grille and Cadillac crests on the C-pillars.

Factory 16” aluminum wheels are wrapped in Michelin Defender tires that were replaced in 2018. The car is equipped with power steering and factory anti-lock brakes with 4-wheel discs. The brakes were serviced, including new lines, and suspension service included replacement of the right-side muffler, both within the past 10k miles.

The interior is trimmed in blue leather and features a split bench up front with a fold-down center armrest that contains storage and cup holders. Amenities include power windows and locks, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a trip computer. The original audio system has been replaced with a newer Pioneer AVH-2330NEX AM/FM/CD/DVD stereo with Bluetooth connectivity, a backup camera, and new speakers, and the original radio is included. The trunk is carpeted and contains the factory spare tire and jack components.

Instrumentation is framed by a leather-wrapped 4-spoke steering wheel and consists of a digital gauge cluster with a speedometer, fuel gauge, and readouts for other vehicle systems and functions. The digital odometer reads 118k miles, which the seller asserts is true.

The 4.6-liter Northstar 32-valve V8 is original to the vehicle and has been well-maintained per the seller. It was factory-rated at 275 horsepower and 300 lb-ft when new, and has received a new alternator, water pump, air conditioning compressor, thermostat, idle control valve, and oil sending unit. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission and a column-mounted shift lever. An oil change was performed about 1k miles ago, and the seller reports the existence of a small oil leak.

The CARFAX report documents Virginia registration from new and several service notations. The sale includes the car’s original radio.

Hi LeMonhead, wanted to write you a note. As you can see I'm the bidder you bid above. I do not know if you desire this car for personal transportation....its an aged Caddy with miles, or if you are a Mom and Pop dealership or car flipper. I could use this car to support my Dad, I'm trying to be nice to my Dad, not spend too much, and provide him a car he is familiar with and can be comfortable in. We only plan to use it for about 1000 miles a year for going to the supermarket and medical appts. I can not get to a bidding war...I don't have the funds. If would be nice, if you really did not need this car if you were to rescind your bid (I don't know if you can do that or if Paul has to do that), near the end of the bidding, I'll bid the smallest amount if I have to so that I'm 1 dollar above your $2700 bid. If you really need the car to put food on your families table, please keep your bid in, I'll go looking else where. Thanks for your consideration of my offer. Joe in GA

Hi Paul, this is Joe in (GA), my Dad is down in Florida and had a 96 Caddy for a long time, he is old now so mostly we use Uber or I drive him around....its Florida so he still has a valid license so yes he can drive if he wants to (weird at 89 years old). I would like to bid on this nice car....but his 96 Caddy had the same Northstar motor and its cause of death was the GM Engineer designed head bolts that expanded and allowed the head gasket to leak at/around 110K miles. This is the same engine.......can you tell me about the engine....frequency of oil changes and frequency of cooling fluid changes. If the engine is starting to eat antifreeze or oil....this would be a great car for someone else who is a mechanic/has head gasket replacement skills. It looks like your Dad (and you) did a great job in taking care of the car, so I would like it. We would not be putting too many more miles on it in Florida but I would have to know its safe and sound (for those medical appts and the trips to the supermarket). If I "win" the auction, I'll fly up to where you are and slowly drive the Caddy down to Bradenton Florida. Please tell me you have a clear title to the Caddy and its in your name. Thanks Joe
