Reserve Removed: 1955 Oldsmobile 98

This 1955 Oldsmobile Holiday Ninety-Eight is described as a restored, mechanically-sorted two-door hardtop that features excellent exterior and interior finishes, power convenience options, and good driving dynamics. It is powered by a newer-model Oldsmobile replacement Rocket 394ci V8 paired with a 4-speed Hydramatic automatic transmission. Finished in two-tone Coral and White over a matching vinyl interior, this fourth-generation Ninety-Eight is now offered with an owner’s manual, a sales brochure, and a clear Washington title in the seller’s name.

For model year 1954, the Ninety-Eight was redesigned as the flagship model for the Oldsmobile brand. This two-door hardtop example from 1955 is finished in two-tone Coral (626) and White with accenting brightwork for the grille, bumpers, side moldings, window surrounds, and badging. The body is said to be rust-free.

Factory color-matched 14” steel wheels with polished covers and spinner caps are wrapped in wide whitewall tires with good tread remaining.

The interior is fitted with reupholstered two-tone Coral vinyl and black cloth seating, with matching door panels, dash, and black carpeting. The dash has a black upper pad and is accented in chrome. Amenities include wing windows, power windows, a heater, a cigarette lighter, a newer push-button radio with digital readout, an analog clock, and a lighted glove compartment. The trunk is carpet-lined and contains a whitewall spare tire and associated jack equipment. The seller notes that everything works.

Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, along with gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage which all currently work. The five-digit odometer reads 10k miles, although true mileage is unknown.

The Rocket 394ci V8 was sourced from a 1958 or 1959 Oldsmobile and is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and chrome-finished valve covers. The motor is said to run well with no smoking noted, and the muffler has been replaced. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a Hydramatic 4-speed automatic transmission that was also sourced from a newer Oldsmobile.
