Vehicle Story

This 1960 Lincoln Continental is one of 2,044 convertibles produced for its model year and has covered 48,588 miles since new according to the seller who cites supporting documentation. Recent maintenance includes an extensive fluid service, replacement of the brake lines, shoes, and cylinders, and fuel sending unit, while the radiator is believed to have been replaced at an earlier date. This third-generation Continental has a power-operated white cloth retractable top with a reverse-slant rear window, and exterior design is further accentuated with wheel skirts, chrome trim, and stacked offset headlamps. Power comes from a 430ci MEL V8 paired with a Turbo-Drive 3-speed automatic transmission. Finished in Sapphire over an original turquoise vinyl interior, this Lincoln Continental convertible is offered with two build sheets, an owner’s manual, and a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.

This Continental is one of 7,287 third-generation convertibles produced (2,044 for 1960), is finished in a shade of factory-offered Sapphire, and is reported to retain its original rust-free sheet metal according to the seller, who describes long-term climate-controlled storage. It features a power-operated white cloth convertible top with a reverse-slant design rear window. The front-end wears signature offset quad stacked headlamps, a hood ornament, a mesh grille, and bullet-style bumper extensions. Additional brightwork consists of chrome front and rear bumpers, window surrounds, handles, emblems, and dual exhaust finishers at the rear. The rear fenders wear skirts over the wheel wells and bear logos.

Chrome wire wheels with spinner center caps are wrapped in wide whitewall tires. Four-wheel drum brakes provide stopping power and benefit from replaced lines, shoes, and cylinders.

The interior is upholstered in turquoise vinyl throughout, with a power-operated split bench seat up front and a matching dash and instrument panel, door panels, and carpeting. The driver-focused instrument panel has a turned aluminum bezel around the gauges with chrome accents. A Ford Town and Country radio remains fitted at the center, with a later 8-track deck installed below it, and both are described as functional. The trunk is said to retain its original tar pad and liner and houses a spare tire.

Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 48,588 miles which are asserted to be original by the seller. The fuel sending unit is said to have been replaced.

The 430ci MEL (Mercury, Edsel, Lincoln) V8 sits beneath a chrome air cleaner assembly and had a gross output of 315 horsepower at 4,100 rpm and 465 pound-feet of torque when new. The engine is mated to a 3-speed Turbo-Drive automatic and is said to benefit from recent maintenance in the form of all fluids having been changed and a rebuilt carburetor. The radiator is also believed to have been replaced at some point.

The sale includes two build sheets, an owner's manual, and a copy of the original title.
