1979 MG MGB

This 1979 MG MGB has been with the current owner for the previous five years, during which time it received a brake service, replacement of the radiator and clutch hydraulic cylinders, and an oil service within the last few weeks. Accompanied by a folder of receipts and invoices documenting servicing and maintenance, wheels are a set of Minator items, and a Sony CD head unit is fitted within the cabin. Finished in factory-offered Brooklands Green with a black soft top over a black interior, this 1979 MG MGB is powered by a rebuilt 1.8-liter straight-four and comes with documentation and a full-size wire wheel and spare tire.

The exterior of this MG MGB is finished in Brooklands Green, which was a factory-offered color from January of 1976 through 1980. Black MGB graphics and stripes line the sides, and large black rubber DOT-mandated five-mph impact bumpers are present front and rear. The black soft top has three windows and is pictured stowed beneath its tonneau cover and in place. A luggage rack is fitted to the trunk lid.

Minator wheels are wrapped in Sigma Shadow tires and house front disc brakes which run replaced pads and rotors.

Occupants are surrounded by black vinyl which is used for the upholstery and door panels. The instrument panel is trimmed in rich lacquered wood and houses a Sony CD head unit. The 4-speed manual transmission is shifted by a console-mounted lever with a switch for overdrive. The rearview mirror and sun visors have both been replaced.

The gauge array consists of a 7,000-rpm tachometer and a 120-mph speedometer, with a mechanical odometer which displays 73k miles. Other instruments inform the driver of oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level, while warning lights monitor other vehicle systems. A quartz clock is also present and the dash shows damage.

Up front sits a 1.8-liter BMC B-Series pushrod inline-four which originally developed 63 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 88 pound-feet of torque at 2,500 when fitted with a Zenith 175CD5T carburetor. A 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive sends power rearward and maintenance listed by the owner has included a front brake and parking brake service, replacement of the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, replacement of the radiator, and a recent oil service, with receipts documenting the work included in a folder.
