Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1972 Chevrolet K10 Fleetside is a running project truck that has been with the same family for 40 years and has approximately 20,000 miles on its 350ci V8 crate engine. Power is delivered to all four wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes power brakes, a Panasonic/Caterpillar AM/FM/cassette stereo, newer interior components, custom walnut interior accents, a spray-in bed liner, and a bed-mounted toolbox. Finished in brown over a brown cloth interior, this second-generation K10 is offered with a t-shirt and a clear Nevada title in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

The brown exterior features chrome bumpers and trim, an egg crate-style grille, a short Fleetside cargo box with a spray-in bed liner, and a bed-mounted diamond plate tool box. The bodywork is said to be free of filler, but the seller notes that a repaint and new windshield glass are needed. Photos in the gallery to the right show patina on the side moldings and damage to the tailgate trim.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

The white wagon wheels are wrapped in radial tires. The seller recommends replacing two of them because they have cracking sidewalls and suggests towing the truck for long-distance travels.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The interior is furnished with a newer brown cloth bench seat along with newer carpeting and newer paint. A custom walnut dash top as well as matching armrests and knobs have been installed. Features include vent windows, manual windows, and a Panasonic/Caterpillar AM/FM/cassette radio.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

Instrumentation consists of a 100-mph speedometer and dials for the battery voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The odometer shows 20,000 miles, reflecting the mileage accrued on the crate engine. The true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power from the 350ci V8 crate engine is delivered to all four wheels by a four-speed manual gearbox and a dual-range transfer case. The engine is equipped with orange valve covers, a chrome air cleaner, a Weiand cast aluminum intake manifold, and a rebuilt 650-cfm Holley carburetor. The seller notes that the truck is started and driven on a monthly basis to circulate the fluids.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Braking is power-assisted. The part-time four-wheel drive system is equipped with locking front hubs.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The sale includes a T-shirt created in memory of the seller's late brother, who was the previous owner of the truck.

Has there been any frame same age on this truck? Has there been any rust repair? What is the gear ratio?
